Quarantine Services for Horses

Equine embryos Inc. has facilities used for the quarantine of horses imported from Europe to Canada or the USA.

The testing of the horses is done through the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, Waterloo's office.

Our barns are approved to quarantine stallions for semen collection for frozen semen export to Europe. We have
several separate isolated barns, wih large stalls and turn out, that are approved for quarantine of horses coming from Europe.

The duration of the quarantine depends largely on the working hours of the laboratories used by the Canadian Food
Inspection Agency, and if it is a gelding, a mare, or a stallion.

Horses arriving on a Thursday can seldom be tested before Monday.

Delays may result from difficulties in laboratory testing procedures, or from delays in sample sending beyond the control of EEI.

The cost includes boarding, turnout, veterinary expenses related to taking samples for disease testing, or performing
the treatments for CEM. It does not include extraordinary expenses related to the health of the horse (i.e. colic, wounds, pneumonia, etc.).

The cost does not include the expenses incurred in obtaining import permits, or any other expense incurred prior to the horse's arrival at our farm.
